4 Man Team Competition Rules INTRODUCTION This popular competition is controlled by the Competitions Officer and is open to the first 64 teams to enter. Dates for individual rounds are identified in the Association’s Official Year Book. Entrance sheets should be completed and sent together with the appropriate entrance fees to Darren Simpkin, Association Secretary/Treasurer. Clubs are provided with copy entrance sheets so that the membership of teams can be closely monitored by the clubs and possible elimination avoided. GENERAL RULES The following are some of the salient issues to bear in mind and to bring to the attention of Team Captains:- 1. Five players are identified as a team. More than one team from the same club can enter. Players must play for the club for whom they play in the WWCBA. 2. Only four from these five will play in any match. 3. The competition will be managed on a Cup knock-out basis. Captains shall toss for choice of the cast of the jack (evens or odds). 4. Management of the competition will be the responsibility of the Competitions Officer (on behalf of WWCBA) and other Officers who will organise an open draw for all rounds. 5. Matches will be played on neutral greens commencing at 6.30, 6.45 p.m. or 7.00 p.m. as appropriate. Later stages may be played under floodlights. No practice allowed. 6. Participating clubs must make their green available whilst they have a team remaining in the competition, and make available jacks, mats etc. 7. The 4 Man Team Competition is restricted to males only. 8. All individual games will be 31 shots up. 9. Competition dates will be Monday evenings. 10. Competition dates will not clash with other WWCBA dates. 11. Matches will be decided on aggregate and in the event of a tie, one selected player from each team will complete one end only to determine the winners. Selected players shall toss for the cast of the jack 12. The entrance fee will be stated in the Association’s Year Book. 13. In the event of inclement weather matches must be played on or before the next Monday evening (as identified separately in the approved Programme). 14. Matches will be played in accordance with the Association’s Cup Rules. 15. The Captain of the winning Team shall, on the evening of each round, forward the score card to the Organiser using first class post. 16. Competing teams should attempt to arrange to provide for card markers to be in attendance if at all possible. The reserve will normally be expected to act as measurer. RULES CONCERNING SUBSTITUTES Alterations can be made to the composition of the team at any time before the team has played its first game in the competition. In real terms this could include the preliminary round and the first round (if a team receives a bye in the preliminary round). This facility will respond to early season transfers etc which could otherwise create a problem. The Competitions Officer must be advised of any alterations. After having played the first game in the competition the following management procedures will apply in the event of the originally identified team of 5 players being unable to field 4 playing members within the progress of the competition. The Competitions Officer will wish to be satisfied that the reasons for non-availability are valid, i.e. sickness, annual holidays, shift working etc. and having been satisfied will authorise the following:- A. One or more substitutes can be identified and can play subject to the substitutes i) not having been identified as a member of another team in the same competition ii) not having played in the current competition iii) being a registered member with the club taking part in the competition B. A substitute having been identified and having played will i) not be able to substitute and/or play subsequently for any other team that needs to respond to other similar situations of non-availability ii) not be able to play in subsequent rounds for the team for which he has already substituted iii) be replaced in subsequent rounds by the player originally nominated C. Such substitutes must be approved in advance by the Competitions Officer. EXPULSION Failure to satisfy these Management requirements, which have been introduced to avoid conflict and to ensure equal opportunity will, if proven, regrettably but inevitably lead to expulsion from the competition.
