Purpose Of Job:

To represent the British Crown Green Referees’ Society in nominating and providing qualified referees locally and to consult with the British Crown Green Bowling Association on the Laws of the Game and to give guidance when necessary.  

Person Specification:

The following list, although not exhaustive, outlines the essential and desirable criteria required to carry out this role, and the full range of duties and responsibilities, set out in the job description.  

a.   Must possess a Grade ‘A’ Referees Certificate (written and practical).  

b.   Must be a member of the BCG Referees’ Society.  

c.   Must be nominated/appointed by the WWCBA.  

d.   Should generate confidence in performing refereeing duties.  

Job Content:

1.   To organise forums for clubs on request regarding refereeing matters.  

2.   To arrange examinations for bowlers (male and female) wishing to become qualified referees.  

3.   To keep abreast of new rules and/or byelaws and to communicate changes to all active referees.  

4.   To arrange Sub-Committee meetings to discuss changes to the rules/byelaws made by the BCGBA.  

5.   To identify personnel to take up refereeing duties for WWCBA finals, local league finals and any other request for referees from clubs.  

6.   To attend Annual General and Delegates meetings arranged by the BCG Referees’ Society.  

7.   To represent WWCBA in the Referees Patron Day Merit Competition.  

8.   To liase with the BCG Referees’ Society’s Referees’ Secretary and Area Representative (appointed by BCGBA).  

9.   To report back from BCG Referees’ Society meetings to WWCBA Management Committee.  

10. To maintain a database identifying qualified referees.  

11. To implement the BCGBA players’ dress-code and the WWCBA’s Code of Conduct.
