25/08/2010 Londonderry B.C:  With immediate effect the Londonderry will now be playing all their home games at the Warley Rugby Club (formerly GKN), Tat Bank Road, Oldbury, B69 4NH.  Their Secretary has resigned and a new Secretary is due to be appointed shortly.  I will advise full details as soon as possible.  Barry Jones

19/08/2010  It has been brought to my attention that the Fixture Secretary, Barry Jones, is believed to be uncontactable.  Can I point out that although I no longer live in Birmingham, Poole is not on another planet and we are connected to both BT and the internet.  Therefore anyone who has any queries about cancelling games, re-arranging games or anything to do with the fixtures, please contact me on either 01202 682196 or 07881 966394.  Email bjbowls21@aol.com.  Please, please do not bother Darren with any emails or phone calls on these matters as he has enough to do being Association Secretary, Competitions and Merit Secretary, and Association Treasurer.  This is more than enough for one man to deal with! Please may I remind you once again that any problems to do with the league should be addressed to me.

Can I also mention that on a Saturday night I try to compile the Quick Result Service and in order to do this I need your assistance.  It began with about 40 calls per night but it is now below 20 and unless this improves I see no point in offering the service next season. Barry Jones Fixture  Secretary

20/07/2010  Kings Norton Ex Service BC - Adrian Wilkes has now retired to South Africa where we wish him well and the roll of Secretary has been passed to Paul Kelly who can be found at 26 Lewis Road, Stirchley, Birmingham B30 2SX, tel: 0121 444 6705 or 07798 790468.  Please send all paperwork to this address as Paul does not have an email account.

20/07/2010 Kings Norton B.C. - Good news for Kings Norton their secretary Sue Dunkley is back.

19/07/2010 Midlands Alliance County Team.  Just a reminder about the 2010 draw.  We are hoping to raise as much money as possible to help finance the Midlands Alliance County Team.  We have returned to the Midlands Alliance this season to give players who are too old the play in the Junior County a chance to play in a county side and hopefully progress to the full senior side.   We have lost numerous bowlers over the last few years just because there was nowhere else to go.  There is food, transport and shirts to be paid for, so if you can sell £25 worth of shares, or more, that would be great.  Whatever we raise then half will be paid out in the draw which will take place at the Warwick and Worcester Rules Revision Meeting which is at Lea Hall Bowling Club on Wednesday 29th September, so if you could return your share forms by 6th September I shall return your share numbers by post.  Last year we raised £800 for the Junior County so hopefully we can raise the same or even more this year.  So please SELL, SELL, SELL as much as you can.    Steve Miller, Chairman of Midlands Alliance County Team

26/06/2010 Great Barr BC:

We have been advised by Steve McGuire that their pavilion has been broken into and vandalised pretty badly.  Not only did they steal bowls stuff and green maintenance equipment but they did a pretty good job of cutting out all of the pipe work  therefore badly damaging the false ceiling, football changing rooms, shower facilities as well as the kitchen area.  Will all visiting clubs note that until the pipe work is reinstalled there are no toilet or kitchen facilities available.

29/05/2010 Paddy McGuinness, the George Secretary, will not be available from 4th June until early July. In his absence all George Secretary's business will be dealt with by Bill Chiswell who can be contacted on 07714 720256. His email address is chisser@sky.com. Please do not try and contact Paddy during this time as he won't be able to assist you. Terry Williams Chairman

14/05/2010 It has been brought to my attention that clubs who are a player or players short are in effect falsifying results by putting in a fictitious score in order to save the club a fine.  May I remind all Clubs that there is no fine for playing with players short but there is a problem if a score is recorded that is proved to be made up.  It also affects a players averages.  If you are a player short just enter "Walk Over" on the card and record a score of 21-0 to the opponent.  Barry Jones, Fixture Secretary.

14/05/2010  Lea Hall BC have asked me to inform all Clubs that they do provide food on Saturday's.  The note in the handbook is incorrect.

14/05/2010   The Black Horse, Northfield.  Work is now taking place at the Black Horse and it is classed as a construction site.  There will be no parking on site.  Please use the roads around the pub or Sainsbury's car park.  There will be a new temporary entrance to the bowling green from Frankley Beeches Road.  The work will take approximately 8 weeks.  Please note that no alcohol can be consumed on the premises until the work is finished and then only alcoholic drinks purchased from the bar will be allowed.  Stuart Southern

20/04/2010 It appears that I may have issued some cards with my Birmingham address.  Can you please ensure that the address on the cards you post are addressed to 13 Pelican House, Stone Close, Poole, Dorset BH15 4GE.  Some Clubs are using the wrong cards.  If you have been issued the cards for the wrong league could you please let me know and I will send you the correct ones.  This weeks result service will be a little delayed due to the lateness of the post in this corner of the world and the amount of text that I have to put into the system in the first couple of weeks of the season.  I hope this will not cause you any inconvenience.  Barry Jones, Fixture Secretary.

16/04/2010 Due a shortage of players West Midland Police have withdrawn their Business Houses Division 2 team. Could Secretaries please replace W.M.P. club with a bye. Games that they played will be discounted. Alan Seager. W.M.P.

12/04/2010  Due to the usual early season hic-up I am unable to publish league tables, averages etc on to the web page.  However I am able to put text on.  I have tried to resolve this situation but I am unable to do so at present.  Please bear with me and I will ensure that the situation is resolved as soon as possible.  Barry Jones, Fixture Secretary

10/04/2010 First of all I would like to wish all bowlers the best of luck in 2010.  I would also like to apologise for the delay in publishing the first Saturday's results and leagues etc.  As you may be aware I moved house over the Easter weekend and trying to balance emptying boxes and entering results has proved to be one task too many even for me!!  I am also having a problem getting an internet connection installed which will take at least another 2 weeks I am told.  However I have now a new BT landline and the new number is 01202 682196 and my mobile is unchanged at 07881 966394.  Please give me a call if you have any questions.  I shall be continuing with the quick results service although it is highly likely that they will not be so quick for a week or two!!  Thanks everyone for your patience.  Barry Jones, Fixture Secretary.

29/03/2010 Unfortunately I have to inform Clubs that West Warwickshire have withdrawn from the Business Houses League Division 1 and Water Orton have withdrawn from Alliance Division 3.  Both withdrawals are due to insufficient players.  Could Secretaries please replace these clubs with a bye.  Barry Jones, Fixture Secretary.
